## Project overview

A white HVLS fan blends into the atrium interior while destratifying the tall open space in summer and winter.

## The challenge

A double-height atrium accumulates heat under the roof in summer while the reception level stays warm and still. Ducting was impossible without spoiling the architecture, and guests directly notice any draught or noise.

## Our solution

A white HVLS fan sized to the atrium diameter was hung above the open volume. Summer mode destratifies and adds gentle evaporative-effect airflow; winter mode runs in reverse to recycle warm air at the roof down to guest level.

## Equipment

- White HVLS · destratification of tall atrium- Factory-direct supply with export documentation- Professional rigging and commissioning by the TierCooling team

## Results

Comfortable lobby conditions year-round, a visible design feature rather than an eyesore, and measurable heating savings in the cold season.

## FAQ

### Are HVLS fans quiet enough for hotel lobbies and atria?

Yes. Low rotational speed keeps operating noise at a level suitable for reception and lounge areas, and units are available in finishes that suit interior design.

### What is the winter benefit in a tall atrium?

Tall atria lose heat through stratification: warm air rises and pools at the glass roof. Run slowly, HVLS fans push that warm layer back down, cutting heating load.

### Will papers and light objects blow around the lobby?

Speeds are set per zone and schedule, so front desks and lounge areas can run gentler circulation while higher airflow is used only when needed.

### How do fans integrate with an existing lobby design?

Units mount above the sightline at atrium height, and colour or finish options let them blend with the ceiling design rather than dominate it.
