## Project overview

Whole-bay air circulation protects stored goods and picking staff in a high-rack distribution centre.

## The challenge

High-rack storage traps heat at the top levels while picking staff work at floor level under loading-door heat influx. Temperature swings also stress heat-sensitive stored goods.

## Our solution

HVLS fans were sited in the main circulation aisles so the horizontal throw reaches into the rack faces. Controls interlock with the dock doors so bursts of hot outside air are pushed back out rather than circulated.

## Equipment

- HVLS · high-rack bays- Factory-direct supply with export documentation- Professional rigging and commissioning by the TierCooling team

## Results

Uniform temperatures rack-to-floor, more comfortable picking conditions through summer peaks, and stabilized storage conditions for temperature-sensitive stock.

## FAQ

### Do storage racks block HVLS airflow in warehouses?

Units are placed with the racking layout in mind - typically above main aisles - so air reaches working zones instead of being trapped by rack rows.

### Can HVLS fans relieve heat stress at loading docks?

Yes. Steady air movement across dock and picking zones lowers perceived temperature for staff, which is one of the main reasons logistics sites install them.

### Do fans save energy in large warehouses?

Covering a big floor area with a few low-speed fans uses less power than rows of high-speed fans, and airflow can offset or raise air-conditioning setpoints where fitted.

### How do fans interact with warehouse dust?

Uniform air movement prevents stagnant dust pockets around racking; sites with fine dust pair airflow with filtration appropriate to their goods.
