# New Industry Trend: The Application of Large Industrial Fans in Gyms! Professional Ventilation and Cooling Solutions

In early April, Mr. He, the owner of a fitness club in Huanggang City, Hubei Province, was introduced to our company by several friends. He needed ventilation and cooling solutions for his gym, which was about to open. For this purpose, Mr. He and his team made a special trip by car from Huanggang to our branch office to visit our showroom and personally experience the effects of the Rundongfang industrial fans and Rundongfang evaporative air conditioners. Our professional sales team explained the product features and solutions to the customer. After experiencing the overall performance at the Yun Fitness club, he was even more satisfied. He immediately purchased two Rundongfang permanent magnet brushless servo industrial fans to ventilate and cool his gym of over 800 square meters. After installation, the customer’s gym opened soon after. With cool air circulating, exercising customers no longer felt stuffy—just cool and satisfied.

Why are Rundongfang industrial fans increasingly favored by customers across various industries? What are the advantages and benefits? The reasons are as follows:
01. Service Life
The service life of an industrial fan is mainly affected by its motor. Currently, industrial fan motors mainly use three-phase asynchronous gear-reduction motors; Rundongfang industrial fans use permanent magnet direct-drive motors, namely outer-rotor permanent magnet direct-drive motors and inner-rotor permanent magnet direct-drive motors. A gear-reduction motor is essentially a combination of an ordinary asynchronous motor plus a reducer. Different motors have different performance, and costs vary greatly, which ultimately leads to significant price differences among large fans!
For industrial fans with three-phase asynchronous motors, due to structural reasons, a gear reducer is required, driven by gears. Long-term continuous gear friction affects the service life. Without maintenance, the service life is only about 2-3 years. The service life of a direct-drive inner-rotor motor is much longer, because the Rundongfang permanent magnet direct-drive inner-rotor motor does not require a reducer or transmission shaft—the rotor is driven directly by the magnetic field, with no friction or losses. Therefore, the service life of the Rundongfang permanent magnet direct-drive inner-rotor motor can normally reach more than 15 years.

02. Power Consumption
Since the gear reducer drives the gears, which then drive the transmission shaft, industrial fans using gear-reduction motors consume part of their power through friction in this process, so the energy efficiency ratio of gear-reduction motors can only reach about 78%. This is a Grade 3 energy efficiency product, which the state is gradually phasing out. Therefore, the power consumption of gear-reduction motor industrial fans is mostly 1.5 kWh. Thanks to frequency conversion technology, the power consumption of Rundongfang permanent magnet direct-drive motor industrial fans is only 0.66 kWh and 1.3 kWh (the 3.6 m, 4.2 m, and 5.2 m models consume only 0.66 kW, while the 6.2 m and 7.2 m models consume 1.3 kW). It may not seem like much of a difference at first, but when the quantity is large and the operating time is long, the costs are also very high. The reason Rundongfang industrial fans can be so energy-efficient is also due to the structure of the inner-rotor motor. With no friction, the energy efficiency can reach over 95%, which qualifies as Grade 1 energy efficiency.

03. Noise Issues
The noise produced by permanent magnet direct-drive inner-rotor industrial fans during operation can be as low as below 39 decibels, which is sleep-level noise and does not affect employees’ work. Since industrial fans with three-phase asynchronous motors contain gears internally, the noise generated during operation can reach 68 decibels, and the longer they run, the louder the noise. In a very quiet working environment, such loud noise can affect work efficiency as well as physical and mental health.

04. Oil Leakage and Maintenance Issues
The problem of oil leakage also stems from the motor structure. Because gear-reduction motors drive gear transmission through a reducer, friction occurs. To reduce friction, lubricating oil is added inside. However, since the sealing rings are made of silicone or rubber, once the sealing rings age, oil leakage can easily occur. Therefore, large fans with gear-reduction motors require regular maintenance, and replacing the lubricating oil and sealing rings costs about 2,000 yuan. In contrast, permanent magnet direct-drive inner-rotor motors require no reducer, no gear friction, and no lubricating oil. This means no oil leakage and no need to replace lubricating oil, saving considerable costs.

05. Safety Issues
Safety comes above everything else!! No company can guarantee that its factory will never lose power; no company can promise that its employees will operate strictly according to operating guidelines 100% of the time.
With large industrial fans using gear-reduction motors, if there is a sudden power failure or outage, the reducer will stop abruptly while the blades are still rotating. At this moment, the speed at the blade tips can reach 17-19 meters per second. This creates shear force between the blades and the blade holders—commonly known as inertia—which can loosen the bolts connecting the blade holders to the blades, and may even cause blades to fall off or break severely, which is very dangerous.
However, industrial fans using permanent magnet direct-drive inner-rotor motors do not exhibit this phenomenon. They rely on magnetic field rotation. In the event of a sudden power failure or outage, the fan blades will continue a free inertial motion and come to a slow stop, without stopping abruptly, thereby avoiding the risk of blades falling off or breaking.
