# Centrifugal Fan Evaporative Air Cooler

When a workshop needs **ducted, filtered, long-run evaporative cooling**, the axial fan is the wrong tool. The **centrifugal B-series** delivers **25,000-60,000 m3/h** at high static pressure from 2.2-15 kW, pushing cooled air through metal ductwork, dampers, filtration stages and long supply runs: RDF25B, RDF30B, RDF36B, RDF35B, RDF45B and the 60,000 m3/h flagship RDF60B.

## Why factories choose RDF evaporative cooling

- **Static pressure for real duct systems** - long runs, elbows, HEPA/activated-carbon filtration and multiple diffusers without collapsing the airflow.
- **Up to 60,000 m3/h per unit** for steel mills, foundries, large fabrication halls and other concentrated-heavy industry.
- **Same 5090 pad and water system** as the axial family: above 80% evaporation efficiency, open distributer, low-water protection.
- **Engineered acoustics:** rated 91 dB(A) on the 30B to 101 dB(A) on the 45B/60B; cabinet plus the recommended silencer/connector set keeps plant levels compliant.
- **GK800 group control** for rows of machines on RS485/Modbus, with zoning and fault reporting.

High-static centrifugal (B-series) units for ducted systems and long supply runs. Noise at rated point; silencers and flexible connectors recommended.

## Dedicated industrial-duty construction

The centrifugal family uses larger sheet-metal cabinets (1.5-2.0 m), heavier running gear (170-650 kg net) and 65-100 L water tanks sized for continuous operation. These units are specified by engineering contractors rather than bought one at a time - we support them with dimensional drawings, static-pressure calculations and duct-interface dimensions from the table below.

For free-discharge or fabric-sock projects of the same airflow, the axial RDF30/RDF36 will be quieter and cheaper; selecting centrifugal only where the duct diagram requires it is the honest rule of thumb.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much can an evaporative cooler lower the temperature?

Brochure figures are 4-10 C in humid climates and 4-15 C in hot/dry climates. The closer the outdoor air is to saturation, the smaller the drop - ventilation benefit remains. We size from your local temperature and humidity data.

### Does it work when it is humid?

Yes - the mechanism shifts toward ventilation and air movement. The large fresh-air volume keeps workshops acceptable even at 70-80% RH; for sealed spaces the compressor-based RDF low-carbon range is the alternative.

### Why are centrifugal units louder and heavier?

A centrifugal impeller accelerates air radially to build pressure - more motor power and sheet metal by definition. The 91-101 dB(A) figures are machine-surface ratings; with standard silencers and ducted discharge the working environment stays within industrial norms.

### Can one RDF60B really deliver 60,000 m3/h?

Yes - maximum free-discharge (55,000 m3/h standard condition) from the 15 kW/30.3 A motor and 650 kg cabinet. Delivered airflow through a specific duct is calculated from its resistance; send the duct diagram for a checked selection.

### Do these units support filtration beyond the cooling pad?

Yes - the higher static reserve exists precisely to carry pre-filter or carbon stages for welding fume, odor or dust-heavy air paths. Specify the required filters and we confirm the operating point.

### What is the lead time for the largest models?

Coolers follow a standard schedule: 10 units typically ex stock, 100 units in about 7 days and 500 units in about 20 days; the exact schedule for RDF45B/RDF60B is confirmed per order.

### How much water and electricity does it use?

Power is roughly 1 kWh/h for the 18,000-26,000 m3/h axial platforms; water use varies with humidity and bleed settings. Nominal water consumption per the manufacturer's Chinese-market data: about 60 L/h for the 18,000 m3/h class and about 100 L/h for the 23,000 m3/h class.

### How often must the cooling pad be replaced?

With normal water quality and Class-I anti-algae treatment the 5090 cellulose pad lasts multiple seasons; replacement is a tool-free panel job. Maintenance schedule and pad pricing ship with the quotation.

## FAQ

### How does an evaporative air cooler work?

Evaporative cooling pulls hot outside air through water-wetted pads; evaporation removes heat from the air, delivering cooled airflow into the space. It works best in hot, dry climates where the evaporation effect is strongest.

### What is the difference between side, top and bottom discharge?

Discharge direction decides installation: side-discharge units mount on walls and blow across or into ducting, top-discharge units suit roof mounting with downward delivery, and bottom-discharge variants feed airflow through a raised plenum. The right choice depends on building structure and airflow path.

### What maintenance does an evaporative cooler need?

Routine care means keeping the pads and water system clean, checking the pump and drain, and winterising the unit in cold regions. Maintenance frequency rises with dust levels in the workshop.

### Do evaporative coolers work in humid climates?

Cooling effect depends on the gap between air temperature and wet-bulb temperature, so output drops in very humid weather. In mixed climates they are often sized as part of a hybrid system with HVLS fans or low-carbon air conditioning.
