# HVLS Fans for Factories

Hot production floors, welding bays, injection-moulding halls and assembly lines need air movement that survives dust, heat and long running hours. RDF **HVLS fans for factories** put a 4,522-15,197 m3/min gearless IP64 fan overhead on a 0.66-1.3 kW motor, quietly averaging workstation temperatures and breaking up the hot, stagnant layer around machines.

## Why projects specify this RDF HVLS fan

- **Gearless PMSM servo direct drive.** The permanent-magnet synchronous motor is built into the hub - no gearbox, no oil, no seals to service. Independent conformity assessment covers EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and LVD 2014/35/EU for the drive motor.
- **Very large air volume, very low input.** Up to 15,197 m3/min from 1.3 kW installed power, with typical consumption below 1 kWh per hour in normal operation.
- **Quiet by design.** Six airfoil-section blades turn at 55-90 rpm, keeping sound below 38-39 dB(A) - quieter than typical office background noise.
- **Engineered for safety overhead.** One-piece anodised aviation-grade Al-Mg blades with six reinforcement ribs and T6 heat treatment, on a 45# steel petiole with the patented starfish-claw triple-bolt anti-drop hub.
- **Overhead, out of the way.** No floor space, no trip hazards, no air hoses - the fan mounts to roof structure and keeps aisles, cranes and forklifts clear.
- **Works alongside spot cooling.** Pair with evaporative coolers at heat-intensive stations (furnaces, presses, welding lines) for combined convection and evaporative relief.

Airflow at maximum speed per the manufacturer type test; running speed is infinitely variable. The 5.2 m model's printed "14 ft" in the source brochure is a brochure typo; the manufacturer's Chinese-market spec table lists 5.2 m = 17 ft, the correct conversion.

## Factory layout guidance

For typical 6-10 m manufacturing bays we select the 5.2 m or 6.2 m model on a 25-32 m grid so the moving air sweeps across workstations rather than straight down. In tall bays (over 10 m) the 6.7 m or 7.2 m carries the column to floor level; in low-bay precision workshops the 3.6-4.2 m models keep paperwork and light components undisturbed.

Because the motor is IP64 and gearless, the fans are routinely specified alongside dusty processes (wood, grain, textiles) and in plants where overhead maintenance access is difficult. Positive-pressure ventilation from evaporative coolers can be added at wall or door positions for genuinely hot stations.

Send your floor dimensions, ceiling height and heat-load description (a sketch or photo is enough) - we reply with a model recommendation, layout and quotation within one business day via the [contact page](/contact/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Will the fan disturb welding shielding gas or light parts?

At recommended mounting heights floor-level velocity is a gentle 1-2 m/s - enough for comfort, well below levels that disturb shielding gas, paper or light assembly. Speed is fully variable for sensitive stations.

### Can it run 24 hours a day?

Yes. The drive is brushless and gearless with no wearing drivetrain, and the controller manages thermal load continuously. Many installations run multi-shift through the cooling season.

### What about mounting on steel trusses or precast concrete?

The bracket is adapted to roof structure after a site survey; steel truss and concrete are both standard. Anti-drop hub plus safety cable provide secondary retention independent of the main bracket.

### Can I cool specific hot machines instead of the whole floor?

HVLS fans equalise the whole bay; for concentrated heat sources (furnaces, compressors, injection machines) combine them with ducted or portable evaporative coolers aimed at the operator - ask for a combined layout.

## FAQ

### What does HVLS mean?

High Volume, Low Speed: large-diameter ceiling fans that move a very large air volume at low rotational speed, covering big floor areas with gentle, even airflow instead of concentrated high-speed blasts.

### Why choose a PMSM direct-drive HVLS fan?

Permanent-magnet synchronous motors with direct drive run at high efficiency with fewer wearing parts than geared designs - meaning lower energy use, quieter operation and less maintenance over the fan's life.

### Which sites use HVLS ceiling fans?

Typical applications include factories, warehouses, gyms and sports halls, markets and malls, playgrounds and sports fields, and livestock farms - any large space where uniform airflow and lower energy cost matter.

### How is fan size and unit count decided?

Selection comes from floor area, mounting height and the obstruction layout of the site; suppliers model diameter and placement from drawings so airflow reaches working zones evenly.
