# HVLS Fans for Warehouses

Warehouses are the defining HVLS application: tall roofs, vast floors, heat stratified above racking and people only in the aisles. RDF **HVLS fans for warehouses** use the 7.2 m flagship geometry - up to **15,197 m3/min from 1.3 kW** - to push a slow column of air down between racking rows and across packing stations, covering up to ~1,450 m2 per fan.

## Why projects specify this RDF HVLS fan

- **Cooler picking aisles.** The broad column descends and spreads horizontally at floor level - the exact layer pickers and packers work in.
- **Condensation and sweating-floor control** in rainy seasons and at loading-bay doors, reducing slip risk and carton damage.
- **Temperature uniformity for stored goods** - chocolate, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and electronics avoid hot roof-zone excursions.
- **1 kWh/h economics** in buildings that run fans around the clock during peak season.
- **Zero floor footprint** in operations built around every square metre, with controllers at packing stations or linked via the IoT option.

Airflow at maximum speed per the manufacturer type test; running speed is infinitely variable. The 5.2 m model's printed "14 ft" in the source brochure is a brochure typo; the manufacturer's Chinese-market spec table lists 5.2 m = 17 ft, the correct conversion.

## Warehouse fan layout

At 8-15 m clear height the 6.7-7.2 m models on a 35-40 m grid give aisle-level coverage without dead spots; lower-bay third-party logistics sheds (5-8 m) use the 5.2-6.2 m models. Fans are positioned over cross-aisles where possible so the descending column feeds both racking rows, and staggered where column spacing demands it.

Cold-chain and cross-dock buildings benefit twice: temperature equalisation reduces hot-air slumping at dock doors, and winter destratification reclaims roof heat. Pair with [evaporative coolers](/product-category/evaporative-air-coolers/) at packing and value-added-service stations where people dwell longest.

- **Documentation:** CE conformity reports for the PMSM drive motor (EMC 2014/30/EU, LVD 2014/35/EU), IP-rating report and 7.2 m type-test reports (220 V / 380 V) are available with your order.

Send your floor dimensions, ceiling height and heat-load description (a sketch or photo is enough) - we reply with a model recommendation, layout and quotation within one business day via the [contact page](/contact/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the fan work above very-narrow-aisle racking (VNA)?

Yes - fans are laid out over cross-aisles and roof bays so the descending column feeds the aisles; floor-level direction is horizontal and slow. We provide a racking-aware layout from your warehouse drawing.

### What does it do for condensation on concrete floors?

Continuous mixing keeps roof and floor temperatures closer and disperses the humid air entering through dock doors, materially reducing the 'sweating slab' episodes common in spring and rainy seasons.

### How does it compare with running wall exhausters?

Exhausters exchange air; HVLS fans redistribute it. The two are complementary: HVLS handles internal comfort and uniformity, exhaust handles heat and odor removal. In pure comfort terms one H7200 covers far more m2 per kW.

### Can the fans be zoned by warehouse area?

Yes - each fan has its own controller, and group/IoT control supports zones (e.g. packing area high speed, bulk storage low speed) and schedules for inbound/outbound shifts.

## FAQ

### What does HVLS mean?

High Volume, Low Speed: large-diameter ceiling fans that move a very large air volume at low rotational speed, covering big floor areas with gentle, even airflow instead of concentrated high-speed blasts.

### Why choose a PMSM direct-drive HVLS fan?

Permanent-magnet synchronous motors with direct drive run at high efficiency with fewer wearing parts than geared designs - meaning lower energy use, quieter operation and less maintenance over the fan's life.

### Which sites use HVLS ceiling fans?

Typical applications include factories, warehouses, gyms and sports halls, markets and malls, playgrounds and sports fields, and livestock farms - any large space where uniform airflow and lower energy cost matter.

### How is fan size and unit count decided?

Selection comes from floor area, mounting height and the obstruction layout of the site; suppliers model diameter and placement from drawings so airflow reaches working zones evenly.
