# PMSM Evaporative Air Cooler

The **RDF26/F1 is the permanent-magnet version of the factory cooler**: 26,000 m3/h maximum (21,800 m3/h standard) from a **1.5 kW PMSM motor on ordinary 220 V single-phase supply**, 5.8 A. It is built for projects wanting RDF23-class airflow with the lower energy, softer start and quieter running of a variable-speed permanent-magnet drive - without a three-phase connection.

## Why factories choose RDF evaporative cooling

- **PMSM drive on 220 V.** 26,000 m3/h from a standard single-phase industrial circuit - no three-phase upgrade needed.
- **Variable speed by default**, with soft start and none of the on/off cycling of fixed-speed units; airflow matches the shift.
- **100 mm 5090 pad, above 80% efficiency** with the same open water distribution, Class-I anti-algae treatment and low-water protection as the standard range.
- **Two discharge configurations:** RDF26A/F1 side (670 mm outlet, 63 kg, 25 L) and RDF26C/F1 top (730 mm outlet, 66 kg, 35 L).
- **Lowest running cost in the comparable airflow band**, pairing naturally with HVLS ceiling fans for total-hall comfort.

## Technical specifications

| Model | Voltage | Max. airflow (m3/h) | Std. airflow (m3/h) | Current (A) | Power (kW) | Dimensions LxWxH (mm) | Air outlet (mm) | Weight (kg) | Tank (L) | Panel |
| ----- | ------- | ------------------- | ------------------- | ----------- | ---------- | --------------------- | --------------- | ----------- | -------- | ----- |
| RDF26A/F1 | 220V/50Hz | 26,000 | 21,800 | 5.8 | 1.5 | 1100x1100x1300 | 670x670 | 63 | 25 | LCD |
| RDF26C/F1 | 220V/50Hz | 26,000 | 21,800 | 5.8 | 1.5 | 1100x1100x1325 | 730x730 | 66 | 35 | LCD |

Standard airflow measured under GB/T conditions; maximum airflow in free discharge. A = side discharge, B = bottom discharge, C = top discharge; 11/12 suffixes mark outlet-ducting variants; /BT = single-phase; /SF = high-airflow PMSM version.

## Where the PMSM version pays back fastest

The F1 platform targets buildings that run long shifts on single-phase power - garment and light-assembly plants, packaging workshops, commercial-kitchen-adjacent spaces and rented factory units where electrical upgrades are impractical. Because speed is variable, the unit runs only as hard as the afternoon heat requires rather than at fixed capacity.

For three-phase sites with ducted systems or very large halls, compare the RDF23 axial and B-series centrifugal pages; the F1 is optimised for efficiency and supply flexibility, not extreme static pressure.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much can an evaporative cooler lower the temperature?

Brochure figures are 4-10 C in humid climates and 4-15 C in hot/dry climates. The closer the outdoor air is to saturation, the smaller the drop - ventilation benefit remains. We size from your local temperature and humidity data.

### Does it work when it is humid?

Yes - the mechanism shifts toward ventilation and air movement. The large fresh-air volume keeps workshops acceptable even at 70-80% RH; for sealed spaces the compressor-based RDF low-carbon range is the alternative.

### What does PMSM save versus a standard motor?

Permanent-magnet motors eliminate rotor-current losses and are inherently variable-speed; across a cooling season the saving is typically a substantial fraction of fan energy versus a fixed-speed induction unit of the same airflow. A calculated comparison for your run hours comes with quotations : the 1.5 kW F1 PMSM drive is type-tested at 88.8% efficiency (level 1 of GB 30253-2013, Fujian Product Quality Inspection Institute report (2023)MJDR-0841), so the quoted comparison is calculated from measured motor data, not generic estimates.

### How much water and electricity does it use?

Power is roughly 1 kWh/h for the 18,000-26,000 m3/h axial platforms; water use varies with humidity and bleed settings. Nominal water consumption per the manufacturer's Chinese-market data: about 60 L/h for the 18,000 m3/h class and about 100 L/h for the 23,000 m3/h class.

### How often must the cooling pad be replaced?

With normal water quality and Class-I anti-algae treatment the 5090 cellulose pad lasts multiple seasons; replacement is a tool-free panel job. Maintenance schedule and pad pricing ship with the quotation.

## FAQ

### How does an evaporative air cooler work?

Evaporative cooling pulls hot outside air through water-wetted pads; evaporation removes heat from the air, delivering cooled airflow into the space. It works best in hot, dry climates where the evaporation effect is strongest.

### What is the difference between side, top and bottom discharge?

Discharge direction decides installation: side-discharge units mount on walls and blow across or into ducting, top-discharge units suit roof mounting with downward delivery, and bottom-discharge variants feed airflow through a raised plenum. The right choice depends on building structure and airflow path.

### What maintenance does an evaporative cooler need?

Routine care means keeping the pads and water system clean, checking the pump and drain, and winterising the unit in cold regions. Maintenance frequency rises with dust levels in the workshop.

### Do evaporative coolers work in humid climates?

Cooling effect depends on the gap between air temperature and wet-bulb temperature, so output drops in very humid weather. In mixed climates they are often sized as part of a hybrid system with HVLS fans or low-carbon air conditioning.
